PREGNANCY

Informed Choice

Midwives believe that every person has the right to be the primary decision maker about their own care. Midwives encourage you to fully participate in the planning of your own care, and care for your newborn. They allow enough time during your visits for meaningful discussion and for your questions to be answered.

BIRTH

Home or Hospital

Midwives are there for you during your birth, no matter when, where, or how long it takes. If necessary, midwives access emergency services and collaborate with other health professionals. You can plan to give birth at home or in hospital.  Homebirth is available to all healthy low risk pregnant people.

POSTPARTUM

Continuity of Care

Your postpartum period will be supported by a Midwife you have grown to know and trust throughout pregnancy and birth. Midwives visit you and your newborn in your own home in the first week after birth. They continue to provide care to you and your newborn for at least six weeks after birth.

Savanna Boyle RM

Like many Midwives I was drawn to birth from as far back as I can remember.  It is a true honour to serve our Cowichan Mothers and Families during this pivotal time in their lives. Walking alongside as consultant, guide and advocate on their maternity care journey.

Throughout my Career, I have loved working as a Solo Practitioner and Team Member. They both bring depth and meaning to the work I am blessed to be doing. At present, I am grateful to be on a team of Two Midwives. Balancing Client Care and Family Life.

I am passionate about Midwifery Philosophy inluding Informed Choice, Choice of Birthpace and Continuity of Care and endeavour to provide evidence based, culturally safe and client centerd care as I navigate the changes in our Health Systems and Communities as a Midwife.

Josephine Borg RM

I generally go by Josie, and my pronouns are she/her. I grew up in the Greater Toronto Area and had the privilege of being exposed to diverse ways of experiencing the world. I completed the Midwifery Program at McMaster University after completing a degree in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo. I have caught babies in both Ontario and Victoria and am excited to provide care to the Cowichan Valley. My professional passions revolve around providing equitable care to people from all walks of life. Education, continuity, and supporting physiological birth are also important pieces to my practice.
